F.         RACING RULES OF FORMULA 18 EVENTS

F.1.      Formula 18 Class events are governed by :

-          the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing ;

-          the ISAF Equipment Rules of Sailing ;

-          the Formula 18 class Measurement rules ;

-          the Formula 18 events racing rules ;

-          the notice of race ;

-          the sailing instructions.

F.2.      Management of the fleets :

-          The maximum number of boats in a fleet to start will be fixed to 80.

-          During European and World Championships, a qualification system will take place on the spot in the first part of the event, if needed, in order to select the crews entitled to compete for the title.

-          For other events, it will be the responsibility of each National Class Association to decide which qualification system to use.

F.3.      Event Measurement :

F.3.1       Miscellaneous :

The words "Event Measurement" will apply to any measurement, inspection, checking and/or control performed during an event, in order to validate it.

Any fundamental measurement necessary to obtain a certificate or certification mark is excluded.

F.3.2.      Organiser's responsibility :

It is the responsibility of the organizer of an international Formula 18 event to provide a class measurer with all technical and human means necessary to perform the controls described in F.3.5.

F.3.3.      Competitors' responsibility :

The competitors are responsible for showing the valid measurement form and measurement certificate corresponding with the boat used.

F.3.4.      Event measurer's responsibility :

The RRS 78.3 gives the initial authority to the event measurers to determine whether an item of material complies or not with the class rules. This authority is afforded only during the event measurement.

If a measurer is convinced without any doubt that an item of material does not comply with the rules, he shall write a report to the race committee, who shall lodge a protest against the yacht.

F.3.5.      The measurement :

F.3.5.1.   Before final registration, the organizer shall :

-          control measurement form and measurement certificate ;

-          control sail number ;

-          control crew weight ;

-          stamp the single authorized suit of sails (at national or international events) ;

-          identify the corrector weights (as prescribed in rules B.1.3.3., B.3.2.2. or B.3.3.2.) used by the crew.

F.3.5.2.   Marking form and measurement report :

-          A marking form will be established by the measurement committee for every competing crew.

-          Before the first race be sailed, a measurement report will be posted on the official notice board.

F.3.5.3.   During the races :

-          During international events, the measurer shall be provided with a suitable boat in order to be able to check boats afloat.

-          During international and national events, at least the three first finishing boats of the daily sailed races, plus another boat drawn by lot will be controlled.

F.4.      (Reserved)

F.5.      RANKING :

On events sailed under F18 rules, there shall not be specific rankings according to the different competing brands or types.
