HISTORY
The idea started in 1998 to build our an Formula 18 to race in the front lines of the
F18 field. A Formula 18 catamaran where eighteen years of catamaran racing was combined to
one massive design.
The first sketches were made in the end of 1998. We started our own business so we
could order our equipment at al the major stores in the first month of 1999. We begun a
comakership with the Works-Composites and the sailmaker Arjan Kooij. We worked very hard
the whole year to make it all happen before the European Championships of 1999. The first
boat was ready just in time before the Europeans but as every prototype this one also had
some problems.
The first big race that we sailed was the Ronde Tiengemeten 1999. It was a real cowboy
race with only half wind racing and a short piece of down wind sailing. After a very poor
start we begun chasing towards the first boats. Well the half wind speed was incredible.
Although we started almost as last boat we were able to finished this race second Formula
18.
We are working to optimize the shape of the decks. We are making the new deck design
look better then the old ones. The rest of the boat will stay the same as we sailed it
before.
